Fleet Admiral (FA): While the highest rank of the Imperial Navy it is considered to be virtually unattainable except in rare cases when the Minister of Defense has served in his capacity for a great span of time and with extreme dedication and effort toward the Imperial Directorate.
Admiral (AD): This is the second highest rank given within the Imperial Navy and the highest rank that is most likely to be obtained. The rank of Admiral is given to a Minister of Defense after excellent dedicated service.
Vice Admiral (VA): Typically awarded to the Minister of Defense for exceptional service.
;Rear Admiral (RA): This is the entrance rank for the Minister of Defense, and is the highest rank attainable by a Battlegroup or Battle Air Group Commander.
Exceptional Battlegroup and Battle Air Commanders who have shown the ability to lead and cause activity in the group. This is the highest rank a Ship Captain may hold.
Flight Captain (FC): The rank of Flight Captain is well respected in the line. Wing Commanders that have proven themselves may be promoted to this rank. This is the highest rank a Squadron Commander may hold. This is the entry rank for a Battle Air Group Commander.
Line Captain (LC): The rank of Line Captain is the most respected in the line. An officer holding the rank of Line Captain may command any class of ship, and holds great sway with a Battlegroup Commander. This is the entry rank for a Battlegroup Commander.
Captain (CPT): The rank of Captain is highly respected in the line. An officer holding the rank of Captain may command any class of ship, and holds considerable sway with the Battlegroup and Battle Air Group Commanders. An officer of this rank has shown extreme dedication to the Imperial Directorate and the Imperial Navy. A member of the Starfighter Corps reaching the rank of Captain has the option to obtain a commission and command a ship within one of the Fleets of the Imperial Navy. For some officers this may be their best option to higher ranks and opportunities, but requires retirement as a pilot in the Starfighter Corps.
Commander (CDR): A Commander may command Victory-Class Star Destroyers, Frigates, Dreadnaughts, or Carrack-Class Light Cruisers. Officers of this rank have shown high dedication and activity in the Imperial Navy. A Commander is the starting rank for a Squadron Commander. This is the highest rank a Flight Leader may hold.
Lieutenant Commander (LCDR): An exceptional Lt. Commander may command a Frigate, Dreadnaught, or Carrack-Class Light Cruiser. This rank is highly respected and the beginning of the path to a greater career as a command officer in the Imperial Navy. A Lieutenant Commander requires excellent activity and dedication to one’s ship.
Lieutenant (LT): After exceptional achievement in battle, an officer may be awarded promotion to Lieutenant. A Lieutenant is the first rank that holds envy, as well as qualifying an officer to serve as the Executive Officer on a starship. After exceptional achievement as a Flight Member a Flight Officer 1st Class may be promoted to Lieutenant. Lieutenant is the starting rank for Flight Leaders in the Starfighter Corps.
Sub-Lieutenant (SLT)/Flight Officer 1st Class: The first promotable rank for a member serving in the Imperial Navy. Promotion to this rank means that the officer has demonstrated an ability to be moderately active. A Starfighter Corps pilot reaching this rank has shown a commitment to his training and profession, he is well on his way to establishing a command path of his own.
Flight Officer 2nd Class (FO2): The first promotable rank for a member serving in the Starfighter Corps. Promotion to this rank means that the officer has demonstrated an ability to be moderately active.
Ensign (ENS): After passing the Core exam, an officer is awarded the rank of Ensign by the Minister of Education. Upon graduation from the Imperial University will be assigned to a Crew Member or Flight Member position dependent on which section of the Imperial Navy they elected to join.
Cadet (CDT): The rank of Cadet is not so much of an actual rank, as it is a title to distinguish a new recruit applicant from a new officer in training to become an actual Imperial Directorate officer. Cadets hold this title until they successfully complete the mandatory entrance training requirements and graduate from the Imperial University (IU).
**Note: Once a member of the Starfighter Corps reaches the rank of Captain they become rank and position restricted, unless the position of Battle Air Group Commander is available. Due to this limitation, the Navy command has authorized members holding the rank of Captain to apply for a command position within the Fleet in order to offer members further rank and advancement opportunities.
