The History of the Imperial Directorate

The history of the Imperial Directorate in steeped in mystery to say the least. The Directorate possesses the true heritage of some of the best and most lethal groups the Empire ever possessed at the peak of its power.

After the death of Thrawn the Empire was splintered and fragmented. When Palpatine came back as the reborn Emperor he called upon a young Moff named Nyykl Orzon to bring a small sector under Imperial control once more. This was to be a major foothold with which to gain control of the surrounding areas. However before this could be completed the reborn Emperor was killed.

Orzon's plan to regain control of one vital sector eventually spread to two sectors, the Illumine sector adding to the Diadem sector. Of interest is the capture of the Tian system, where an officer named Salth Khan led a fighter attack, resulting in heavy casualties against the enemy and a subsequent promotion for him. However General Salth Khan was in direct service to the Emperor, and not an actual member of the forces under Orzon's control. Word arrived shortly there after of the Emperor's defeat.

What followed was an extreme lack of resources, with two battle torn sectors trying to rebuild after years of open warfare and invasions from both sides of the ongoing galactic saga. Seeking to complete his mission. the now Grand Moff Orzon made an alliance with General Salth Khan. These men were nearly the only ones who did not answer Admiral Daala's call for reunification. Instead they built a new group, a new Imperial Directorate. When Salth came he brought with him the 181st Fighter unit. The pride of the Empire. In order to help Orzon complete his mission, the reborn Emperor had given him the 501st Stormtrooper Legion, formerly known as Vader's Fist. Which had provenly quite decisive in securing planets and new colonies from which the Directorate could expand.

The Imperial Directorate thus possessed the two most important and powerful units from the Empire. With these forces they secured the ability to trade with other systems, or subsequently invade and conquer them. It was not long before the rebuilding was truly moving at a rapid pace. However, this was not the only thing moving at a rapid pace, as the military might of the Directorate was recognized due to the ownership of the two powerful units. What resulted from this was the fealty of several captains and generals to the Directorates cause. They brought a better grade of ships and thousands of troops to the ID. This resulted in more resources and an elite fighting force that was ready to go to war. There was just one issue, they had little support outside of their meager sectors of control.

Around this time Grand Moff Orzon was beginning to feel a yearning for less politics and had plans he wanted to enact from a much lower profile position. Now serving as the ID's Prime Minister, Grand Admiral Salth Khan was appointed as the new Grand Moff by a unanimous vote of the Ministry Council. However soon after his appointment he realized that the leadership of the Imperial Directorate was steeped deeply in politics. Grand Moff Salth Khan shifted the entirety of the command structure, taking the two semi-independent systems and merged them into a new Empire. Dissolving the Ministry Council, he reformed the Directorate into a new military structure.

The new leadership was called the Military Council, with the addition of the positions of Director of Imperial Development and Director of Imperial Commerce. Along with these changes it was agreed by the newly established Military Council that the leader of the Imperial Directorate should no longer be referred to by the title of Grand Moff, but by the supreme military title of Executor.

Executor Salth Khan as it turned out was a shrewd leader, and he issued orders for the recreation of the Imperial Senate. He knew this would do two things, placate the burgeoning New Republic, and give his citizens a sense of control under their Imperial masters.

The Imperial Directorate currently has alliances with what is left of the Empire, and has no open war with anyone. However their military forces are at a constant state of alert and further martial might is being brought in their sectors. Despite entreaties by the New Republic to reduce it's forces, no warships have entered into Directorate Space in nearly three years for fear of sparking an open rebellion among various Outerrim territories that are merely providing lip service to the New Republic. Out of fear that these territories might cede to the Imperial Directorate, the New Republic has stayed at arms length, although periodically an ID sector patrol ship happens to spot a random New Republic scout vessel on the boundaries between the two territories.

However the day of open conflict may soon come, as the New Republic's spies are constantly attemping to learn more about the ever growing military and industrial complex that makes up the core of the Imperial Directorate. So Lord Salth Khan with the readily trained and elite fighting forces of the Imperial Directorate continue to prepare for the day that the Imperial Directorate may have to face down a massive invasion from an entity bent on destroying the last vestiges of Imperial rule.
